It is hot out there, after all it is summer. It is great to spend time at the
Library/Bookstore - Your local library is a great resource. You can go and browse for books and so much more. They have so many programs for kids that can be a lot of fun. Our library had a great program with singing and stories. They usually have a book club for the summer too so the kids can learn more about that and start their reading. Bookstores often have story time and other activities for kids. Check out BarnesandNoble.com or google "story time in your city, state"
Movies - Going to the movies can be a great break from the heat. In fact it is so cool it might be a good idea to bring a sweatshirt so the kids don't get too cold. Most movie theaters offer a discount for the first showing of the day, the matinee. Usually everyone can get in at the children's rate. In fact, Regal Entertainment Group, offers FREE movies twice a week. Check out there website here to find out what theaters participate in your area, what they are playing, and what the rules are. For Pennsylvania it is Tuesdays and Wednesday when they have select G and PG movies playing. You cannot purchase tickets ahead and the showings are around 10am.
Bowling - This can be a great indoor activity for summer. Everyone can get in on the action and get some activity as well.
Goby.com - This is a great website. You can select what you want to do (choose "family fun"), where (select your state, city, or area), and when (either today, this weekend, or any date you choose). For my area I got lots of options of bowling, children's museums, local story times, aquariums, and other activities. This is a great resource for any family activity year round.
