Free Antivirus Software & Tips on Keeping Viruses Away

If you are anything like me, it seems like you get more viruses in your emails than greetings from friends.  Viruses are abundant through emails and webpages.  It's hard to stay away from them.  Here's a few tips on keeping viruses away from your computer:

1.  Do not open attachments in your emails that are from either people that you DON'T know or look strange.  If you received an attachment from someone that you DO know but it doesn't seem right, email them first to make sure they sent it to you & it's valid.

2.  When surfing the internet, stick to well-known websites.  If that's not possible, be VERY careful on websites that are not well known making sure to close all pop-up windows (even if they appear professional).  Manypop-up windows (with viruses ready to attack) will appear like your Windows Operating system & give you messages about your anti-virus software and/or firewall.  Don't believe them!

3.  Use antivirus software: Avast! software has a free verision of its software.  I've been using it for a while & very pleased with it.  You can download it here: http://www.avast.com/free-antivirus-download
