Halloween Safety Tips

Tuesday, October 26, 2010 Submitted by Allison

With Halloween just a few days away it is time to do a refresher on trick or treating safety. This is a reminder for the people out trick-or-treating as well as the homeowner. Everyone can help the kids have a safe and fun time.

Homeowners:

  • Make sure your front steps are well lit.
  • Remove anything that trick-or-treaters may trip on from your walkways and front steps.
  • Give the children wrapped candy unless it is someone you know.
  • Consider giving out something healthy.
  • Don't put candles in jack-o-lanterns out where people are walking. A flowing costume could catch on fire.
  • Put your front lights on so that people know they are welcome.

Trick-or-Treaters:

  • Stay in a group. Don't go out alone.
  • Carry a flashlight or a light up necklace/bracelet so people can see you and you can see where you are going.
  • Only go to homes you know.
  • Don't eat any candy until you get home and it is checked by your parents.
  • Stay within sight of your parents.

So what are your kids (and maybe you) going to be? Let us know. We want to hear your exciting and creative ideas!

Have a fun and safe Halloween from All Things For Mom!
