Item of the Week

 Axion Portable DVD

When you are spending a lot of time in the car on road trips a portable DVD player is a must have. If you are interested in purchasing one, I think the Axion AXN-6979 7-Inch Dual Screen Portable DVD Player is a great option. This DVD player has two 7- inch screens. This is not two systems, meaning you cannot watch 2 different things, there are just two screens playing the same thing. You can put them on the back of the two seats and both kids will be able to see and hear the movie. There are also 2 headset jacks on each screen so that 4 kids can listen if you want them to use headphones. The system comes with a remote control, mounting straps for car headrests, and both an AC adapter and a car adapter. This is a great value for only $89.99 plus $5.99 shipping. You can also bring this unit into your hotel or house as a DVD player or with a gaming system. The only downside is that it does not have a battery. You need to plug into the car or house. This means you can't use it on an airplane.

Sony Portable DVD Player

If you will be traveling by plane and want to have a portable DVD player for the flight then the Sony DVP-FX930 9-Inch Portable DVD Player  is a great option for you. This DVD player has a large 9-inch, high-resolution wide screen display and a 6-hour battery life. The DVD player come with a car adapter as well. It can play DVD's as well as photos and music. It has 2 built in headphone jacks. (If you are planning to use the DVD player on the plane then the headphones are a must. I tried without it and it was useless). This DVD player is $138.88 and you can also use this as a DVD player once you get to your destination. The only drawback on this player is that there is only one screen so you will have to share it or mount it between the two seats. It is complicated but it can be done. The battery life will make up for it though if you will be using it away from the car or house regularly.

An additional accesory to think about ordering is a Cigarette Lighter Splitters. They come in many shapes in sizes. They range from about $3 to $9 depending on the features. You plug the splitter into your cigarette lighter and you will have from 2 -4 outlets to plug things into. Use one for the DVD player, another for the GPS, and a third to charge your phone.

Happy Traveling!
