Here are the top 10 educational websites from ATFM

1. Kidsites.com - This is a great site to bookmark because from here you can find lots of great sites. They have three different areas for educational, fun, and resources for adults. In the educational area there are site for animals, art, dinosaurs, history, math, music, science, and space.

2. Tux Paint -  This website is great for children ages 3-12. It is a free drawing program with great features such as sound effects. This program is downloaded to your computer.

3. Dictionary.com -  This is a great resource site, especially for older children. There are many useful tools on this site. Of course there is a dictionary but there is also a thesaurus, encyclopedia, and translator. There are also "flash cards" that can help with SAT prep. This site can be very helpful for homework as well as special projects. They also have some fun word/vocabulary games and they are geared toward middle school and up.

4. Wordsmyth.net - This is another great resource for elementary aged kids. This online dictionary has a children's dictionary option that is prefect for younger children. They also have a resource that will make quizzes. It can be a great way to help your children study their vocabulary or test them at home.

5. KidsKnowIt.com - This website is a collection of links for educational websites on topics such as geography, spelling, math, astronomy, dinosaurs and more. This site is geared toward elementary kids. There are lots of fun games to make learning fun.

6. MathPlayground.com -  This website for elementary and middle school kids is full of great ways to learn and practice your math skills. With games and activities they can practice their math facts as well as logic and problem solving.

7. StarFall.com - This is a great website for preschoolers and early elementary children learning to read.  They use a systematic phonetic approach to teach children how to read. They can go through the 4 levels or work at whatever level they are at.

8. EdHelper.com - If you want to home school, help your kids stay up to date over the summer, or just give them educational activities to do at home then you will love this site. It provides activities, printable worksheets, and puzzle makers from pre-k through high school. There are resources for so many subject areas including foreign languages.

9. Discovery Kids Games -  This website is full of educational games for school aged kids.

10. BrainPop.com -  This is another great educational site and it has a great resource I haven't seen on the other sites. Most states have adopted state standards for education and soon there will be national standards. You can look up your state, subject matter, and grade level to see what your children will need to learn in each area. There are also lots of great activities and games here as well.

We hope this list of sites will help you to forward your children's education at home and support the learning happening at school. It will also be a resource for your children so they can learn while they are having fun. The time the spend at the computer should not be wasted but used to help them learn and grow.
